Dental Abscess... PDF


Bacteria invade a cavity in the root of a decaying or dead tooth, pus forms and creates a very tender throbbing abscess.


Treatment - Aromatherapy

Essential oil of cloves is a good painkiller: add 10 drops to 10 ml of carrier oil and apply directly. Add a drop of each of tea tree and geranium essential oils to a glass of warm water and use as a gargle.


Herbal

Mouthwash: add 2 teaspoons of red sage leaves to half a litre of water, bring to the boil and leave covered for 15 minutes. Gargle with the warm solution for 5-10 minutes several times a day. Golden seal is effective in attacking the bacteria associated with abscesses. It also stimulates the immune system and reduces inflammation: take 2-4 ml of the tincture in water 3 times daily.
Caution: not to be used during pregnancy or by those with high blood pressure.


Homeopathy

1 dose every hour for 3 doses and repeat if needed:

Foul taste and offensive breath, profuse salivation, pains worse at night: Mercurius solubilis 6c. Hot and throbbing, pain relieved by clenching teeth: Belladonna 6c. Teeth and gums excessively painful and made worse by cold drinks: Hepar sulphuris 6c. To promote discharge of the abscess, with sticking pains and the sensation of a hair on the tongue: Silicea 6c.
